Case Study: Calworx Website Redesign
Problem
Calworx Projects Ltd. is a Calgary-based engineering consulting firm specializing in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management services for upstream and midstream petroleum facilities across Western Canada. Their work is technical, credible, and in-demand, but their website told a very different story prior to 2024.
During our Design Discovery session, their goal was straightforward: “To make the website more usable. Currently nothing works.” The old site was outdated, difficult to navigate, and failing to reflect the professionalism of the company behind it. For a firm competing against established names in the industry, that gap mattered. Visitors had no way of knowing they were dealing with a serious, capable team.
The client needed a complete redesign, one that would finally bring their online presence in line with who they actually are, and give their audience a site that was welcoming, easy to use, and built to represent them well.
Strategy
From the first conversation, the focus was on collaboration and clarity. This project was a team effort, bringing together Jaime Wedholm of JWedholmDesign.ca and Amanda Schewaga, Marketing & Communications Leader at The Marketing Pioneer, combining design, copywriting and marketing strategy to deliver a result greater than either could achieve alone.
Working closely with the Calworx team, we took the time to understand their vision, their audience, and what they needed their website to communicate. That discovery process informed every design and content decision that followed.
The project was managed with clear milestones, consistent communication, and a process that kept things on track without adding stress to the client’s plate. The result was a site with a completely reimagined structure, intuitive navigation, and content that finally spoke to Calworx’s mission, serving the Oil & Gas, Agriculture, and Manufacturing industries with cost-effective, expert engineering solutions.
Post-launch, we ensured the Calworx team felt confident managing their new site through custom documentation and one-on-one training — so they could own it going forward.
Results
The redesigned Calworx website launched in early 2024, with an immediate positive response, both from the team internally and from the people they serve. The transformation was clear: a fresh, welcoming site that looked and felt like the real company behind it.

The feedback since launch says it all. Calworx’s clients and contacts have remarked that it’s “finally something people can actually look at”, a site that shows them as a credible, professional company. The content speaks directly to their mission, and the improved functionality makes it easy for any visitor to find what they need.
The relationship didn’t end at launch. Calworx has been a monthly site support client since early 2024, which is a testament to the trust built throughout the project and our shared commitment to keeping their digital presence at its best.
